Membership
The club supports 50 active full members in a given season. The membership process has been in place a long time, so it can appear rather antiquated to most people just wanting to come out and ski with the group.
For the 2011 Season the club is at full capacity with a waiting list of applicants to enter the club. Unfortunately that means it is not open for new members at this time, but keep checking back or contact any of the existing members for a status update.
How do I ski with the club?
There is a formal process of becoming a member, which has been around as long as the sport has. The system was designed to bring people into the group after they are familiar with the club and the sport.
We always recommend coming out and skiing with the group as a guest of one of the active members. Many people do not realize that the club revolves around a competitive water ski course and it may not be the activity they were looking for.
Individuals fill out membership applications and submit them along with an application fee, to be voted in as “house” members at the next club meeting. The application needs to be endorsed by three full members and the vote goes before the entire group at the meeting. That is where having some face time with the people in the club goes a long way.
The “House” membership lasts 1 year, and is the probationary membership before becoming a full member. After that 1st year, house members are voted into the club as full members during the meeting.
Did I mention it was complicated?

I work with Dr. Miller and we spoke today about a membership for me. I have been skiing for 20 years on Canadaugua lake and am very interested in learning the ins and outs of the course.
Thank you for your consideration,
Catharine

You caught me while I am still putting the website together. I have forwarded your question over to the current club president, so that he can follow up with the membership information for you.

Hey,
I recently saw the slalom course and would love the opportunity to come out and ski it. I spend most of my time on Canandaigua Lake. I am very interested in learning more about the club. Any more details would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would like to find out we could come out and check out the skiing. I would like to see if it is something my son 11/daughter 15 would be interested in. We have skii’d on Seneca lake for many years. Nothing competitve. Kids slaIom and wakeboard. I used to slalom and barefoot. Do you run any summer camps. Thanks, Dave.
